Community-Powered Sites to Showcase Most Popular Videos

Palo Alto, CA – August 29, 2007 – Metacafe, whose more than 25 million unique viewers each month make it one of the world’s largest video sites (comScore Media Metrix, July 2007), today launched its new Digg Channel. Now live at www.metacafe.com/digg, the channel showcases every Metacafe video that has ever been “Dugg.” Viewers can also easily find videos “Most Dugg” and “Recently Dugg” on Digg, an innovative site that harnesses the collective wisdom of the world’s online audience to prioritize the overwhelming amount of content available on the Web.

By combining input from these two community-powered sites, Metacafe is providing another way to discover videos that prove most popular among viewers. With the addition of the Digg Channel, viewers can now see what videos members of the Digg community prefer in addition to what fares well among the entire Metacafe community. The Digg Channel is being promoted throughout the Metacafe website, and Digg is currently showcasing the channel on the Digg website (www.digg.com).

“The Digg Channel illustrates our commitment to putting viewers in charge of their online entertainment experience,” said Erick Hachenburg, CEO of Metacafe. “Like Digg, we are all about exposing the content our community deems best and making it easy for people to discover something they’re likely to enjoy. This shared philosophy makes the Digg Channel a great addition to our site.”

Metacafe is known for utilizing audience feedback to surface the most entertaining videos. Its community review panel of more than 80,000 volunteers takes a first look at each of the thousands of videos submitted to the site each day. And its VideoRankTM system gauges each viewer’s interactions with and reactions to a video, automatically showcasing those that elicit the best response.

Everything on Digg is submitted and voted on by the Digg community, making it easy for people to discover and share interesting items from anywhere on the web. The new Digg Channel utilizes the recently released Digg Application Programming Interface (API), which allows Metacafe to easily integrate Digg data into its own site in real time.

Highland Capital Partners and DAG Ventures Invest in Popular Video Entertainment Site

Palo Alto, CA – August 21, 2007 – Metacafe, whose more than 25 million unique viewers each month make it one of the world’s largest video sites (comScore Media Metrix, June 2007), today announced it has raised $30 million in Series C financing.  The round was led by new investors Highland Capital Partners and DAG Ventures. Existing investors Accel Partners and Benchmark Capital also participated.

“Metacafe is defining the next generation of online video, moving away from simple video sharing and hosting to delivering an exceptional entertainment experience for short-form content,” said Richard de Silva, Partner, Highland Capital Partners.  “Its sophisticated approach to audience-driven programming is unique in the industry.”

“Over the past four years Metacafe has built a large and global audience, which has grown quite significantly throughout 2007,” said Tom Goodrich, Partner, DAG Ventures.  “We expect the growth to continue as Metacafe rolls out new ways of tapping its community to customize the viewing experience for audience members in different regions around the world.”

The money raised will be used to support the company’s continued global growth, including expanding the breadth and depth of content – from  emerging video creators through the Producer RewardsTM program and through partnerships with established media companies.

With their firms’ investments, both Richard de Silva of Highland Capital Partners and Tom Goodrich of DAG Ventures will join the Metacafe board of directors.  With the close of this round, co-founder Arik Czerniak will step away from day-to-day operations to pursue other entrepreneurial endeavors but will remain on the board and continue to advise the company on strategic matters.

“This financing underscores the strength of the Metacafe value proposition and bolsters our ability to reach entertainment enthusiasts, video creators, content providers and brand advertisers across the globe,” said Erick Hachenburg, CEO, Metacafe.  “By working closely with each of these groups and putting our community at the forefront of everything we do, Metacafe is delivering an unmatched online entertainment experience.”

Metacafe and Universal Pictures Invite “Bourne” Fans to Make the Ultimate Movie Trailer

More than 1,000 Mashups Created to Date

Palo Alto, CA – August 2, 2007
– Metacafe, one of the world’s largest video sites, has teamed with Universal Pictures to create “The Bourne Ultimatum” channel, now live at www.metacafe.com/bourne.  Ignited, Universal Pictures’ online media planning and buying agency of record, recommended Metacafe to the studio.

The centerpiece of the channel is a new mashup tool that enables people to create their own trailer for the upcoming movie, by using film clips, music tracks and special effects.  Since the channel debuted on July 23, more than 1,000 mashups have already been created.

“The ‘Bourne’ series is a franchise with a large and loyal fan base,” said Doug Neil, senior vice president, digital marketing, Universal Pictures.  “Providing fans with a way to interact with film content is in support of the marketing objectives for the film. We’re pleased so many have already taken advantage of the mashups.”

People who create customized trailers can save them online and send an e-mail notification that provides a direct link to their mashup to friends.  After watching a mashup, viewers are prompted to rate it.  Those that are top rated, most viewed and most recent are showcased on “The Bourne Ultimatum” channel, which will remain live throughout the month of August.

“As Universal Pictures’ online media agency, we are always looking for innovative ways to reach the studio’s audiences, and Metacafe’s mashup tool provides an engaging way to reach Bourne fans,” added Eric Johnson, president of Ignited.

“This tremendous response shows Metacafe viewers are entertainment enthusiasts who enjoy both Hollywood movies and user-generated content,” said Erick Hachenburg, CEO of Metacafe.  “This mashup tool and the partnership with Universal Pictures combines the two genres in an exceptionally interactive way.  We are pleased to be working with a major studio to deliver this great entertainment experience.”

The mashup tool is powered by Diffuse Media Group, a leader in making digital media fun, engaging and useful.  The Diffuse Video Mashup Maker is licensed by a number of top-tier entertainment networks and content providers and has won numerous awards, including a 2007 Promax Gold and Webby Honoree.  More information is available at www.diffuse.us.

About “The Bourne Ultimatum”
Matt Damon returns as the trained assassin Jason Bourne for the latest showdown in “The Bourne Ultimatum.”  In the follow-up to 2002’s “The Bourne Identity” and 2004’s “The Bourne Supremacy” — the smash hits that have earned over $500 million at the global box office — acclaimed director Paul Greengrass (“United 93,” “The Bourne Supremacy”) joins returning cast members Julia Stiles and Joan Allen and new additions David Strathairn, Scott Glenn, Paddy Considine, Edgar Ramirez and Albert Finney.

All he wanted was to disappear.  Instead, Jason Bourne is now hunted by the people who made him what he is.  Having lost his memory and the one person he loved, he is undeterred by the barrage of bullets and a new generation of highly trained killers.  Bourne has only one objective: to go back to the beginning and find out who he was.
Now, in the new chapter of this espionage series, Bourne will hunt down his past in order to find a future.  He must travel from Moscow, Paris, Madrid and London to Tangier and New York City as he continues his quest to find the real Jason Bourne — all the while trying to outmaneuver the scores of cops, federal officers and Interpol agents with him in their
crosshairs.

“The Bourne Ultimatum” was shot in Morocco, Spain, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States.  The action-thriller opens August 3, 2007.
